Are ab machines an effective tool?
No doubt a lot of people question if these ab machines they see on TV are for real or just scams. Im sure that this great doubt is in part due to some of the outlandish claims levied by these pitchmen.
Some of their tactics are so outrageous, the really turn me off. Here's a tip, not every machine is effective; some are worthless and will not provide any benefit for your abdominal muscles. Others are actually pretty decent pieces of equipment, but you have to get past the hype to see what the machine can really do for you.
For those who don't know much about ab machines, here's a good resource to help you understand some of the ab equiment options.
An ab machine must target your muscle more effectively to be beneficial. One benefit to ab eequipment is that it can help you really target and focus on the ab muscles directly. Crunches help the muscles that are layered over your stomach, the rectus abdominals. But, you've still got to worry about your obliques, your lower abs and your transverse abdominal muscles.
A different angle and different exercise is required for these different muscles Every one of these muscles must be worked, in order to have an effective ab routine. There's no need to hit each muscle every workout, rotate them around for the maximum effect
The great thing about the right type of exercise machine is that you can get the variety you need. These can, in fact, increase the effectiveness of the motion, too. One way they do this is by allowing you to apply resistance to the movement.. A few styles of equipment do this by adding weights, or by allowing you to position yourself so that more of your weight is applied to the movement.
I have noticed that if people have more choices in their home, they are more likely to work out regularly and improve their abdominal muscles. Adding variety will help you physically as well as psychologically. Generally, when people follow the same routine day in and out, focusing on one or two exercises, this gets old fast. They tend to cut their workouts short and pay less attention to their form. But, varying the activities and exercises naturally rejuvinates people. The results is that they perform more work and get better abs..
So, I have come to the conclusion that ab machines really do work to improve your abs. But, you do have to put the time in if you want to see results.
