You own curly hair? The best products for you

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Curly hair is a tender kind of hair. It tends to be drier and more rebellious than other classes of hair. Hence, you have to look after it carefully. That is, you should opt for the corresponding products for it. Here you will take a good idea of what to seek when you go shopping for styling products for your curly hair cuts.

The first product is shampoo. Shampoo could hold rough detergents that can be particularly destructive to curly, dry hair. In several shampoo, there are various constituents that may be harmful to your hair. Hence, when shopping for shampoo, try to stay away from these specific factors: sodium lauryl sulfate, ammonium laureth sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate. By contrast, you should try any shampoo with wheat germ oil or olive oil. The wheat germ and olive oil will defend your curly hair cuts and make it softer.

The second product is conditioners. If you own a curly hair, you will needs conditioners whenever you shampoo and even whenever you make your hair wet. However, do you recognize which kind of conditioners that is appropriate for you? I advise you to select conditioners with moisturizers, proteins, humectants and emollients. Moisturizers will help you control your curls better and supply softness to your hair. Protein is the great constituent to our body. When you use the conditioner with protein, your hair may be defended from the hurt of the environment and other constituents. Moreover, emollients can soften your curly hair cuts and make it smoother.

Another product that you need to apply for your hair is gel. If you are using pomatums, waxes or styling creams, you should release them. Alternatively, you should purchase gel that has the ingredients such as polyvinylpyrolidone and vinyl acrylate. It can supply you the stiff crunchy look.

If you possess a curly hair, don't be so anxious or try to straighten your hair. This may damage it. By contrast, you should opt for the best products above to protect your hair and create your hair style. Perhaps you look more pretty and lovely with curly hair than with straight one.

Why You Need Orthotics if you Suffer from Low Arches or Over-Pronation

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

A poll conducted by the American Podiatric Medical Association revealed that a staggering 73% of people polled revealed that they are suffering from foot pain.  The question is:  why has foot pain become one of the most common complaints in the examination room?  Most patients have issues with their feet because of: the kind of footwear they use, the activities they engage in, or how their feet are structured.  Usage of  uncomfortable shoes can make existing problems even worse.  Physically active people are another segment of the population that are often-afflicted individuals who experience painful feet.   Factors such as overpronation,  flat feet, and poor cushioning can all be contributing factors to lower extremity pain. Parents can be the reason for ill-formed feet because genetic traits help determine how the foot was formed in the womb. This can increase the risk of developing painful foot conditions such as bunions, heel spurs, and plantar fasciits.

Foot Biomechanics: The Evils of Overpronation and Over-supination

It is clear that foot overpronation  can cause abnormal rotation of the feet when walking or running. The foot is responsible for bearing the weight of the body and providing balance and stability. The areas of the foot that provide this harmonious relationship with the body are the heel, arch, tarsals and metatarsals. The arch gives tremendous strength and flexibility so the foot remains stable. Pain can result from raised arches or abnormally-low arches, which can cause the foot to rotate unusually. In high arches, the mass of the body is strangely emphasized on the far ridge of the foot (oversupination). However, feet overpronation happens with fallen arches because the inside of the foot takes the brunt of the body's weight, causing the ankles to roll inward .

Serious Foot Issues Occur with Flat Feet

A brief evaluation to see if flat feet or high arches are an issue is to find a good area where a foot impression can be made, such as on concrete. Dip one foot in cool water and then step onto a dry surface. Then, remove the foot off the ground and see the print that the foot leaves.  A foot with feet overpronation will leave a full foot imprint where all of the skin of the foot has made contact with the ground. A high arch will leave just a portion of the ball of the foot's, outer portion, and the heel.  Either of these arch dysfunctions can contribute to heel spurs, because the foot experiences too much pressure where it isn't supposed to.

Get Immediate Relief for Flat Feet With Orthotic Insoles

Those who have flat feet, heel spurs, or who need treatment for plantar fasciitis can find relief for their pain if they use orthotics.  They give the needed support to fix the areas in the arch that have been weakened.  They also give cushioning in areas where too much pressure occurs, such as in the heel or ball of the foot.   Orthotics are available in an array of sizes and types and are constructed to meet everyone's needs no matter what their activity level.

Heel Pain Exercises and Arch Support Insoles to Treat the Root Cause of Heel Pain

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

These days it is not rare to find people affected by heel pain that is so severe that it may hinder  doing everyday things in life. One of the most common foot ailments is foot heel pain. The soreness can start off as an annoying pain that you feel once in a while, and develop into an intense pain that is felt every day. Sometimes, pain in the heel can go away on its own, but, if left untreated, heel pain can get very painful.

Heel pain is usually felt in two main sections of the heel, under the heel and in the back of the heel. Usually, when people suffer from pain in the back of the heel it is related to excessive use or inflammation of the Achilles tendon. When people experience plantar fasciitis pain, it can be caused by a person stepping on a large stone or rock which bruises the heel, or the plantar fascia can be inflamed. A heel that is injured by a sharp object will heal on its own over time. Nonetheless, if the pain in the heel is a result of inflammation of the plantar fascia, there are a few things that need to be done to help including plantar fasciitis exercises and orthotics.

The heel is connected to the toes by soft tissue called the plantar fascia. Under normal conditions, the plantar fascia is a flexible and strong part of the foot that enables the foot to carry our weight and allows us to stay balanced. If the foot is facing abnormal stress, such as excessive body weight, repetitive movements from sports, age or compromised foot function, it can create small tears in the plantar fascia. These minuscule tears typically are found near the calcaneus bone (heel bone), where they become swollen and cause pain. If this tissue is stretched repeatedly it can create the development of heel spurs. Heel spurs are boney growths on the heel that can be the reason for quite a bit pain.

If you are feeling heel pain, a suggested approach to assist in alleviating the stress on the plantar  is to wear orthotic shoe insoles  and perform exercises for plantar fasciitis, that will strengthen the plantar fascia as well.  One of the prescribed plantar fascitis exercises is stretching the foot before rising from bed. The Plantar Fascia will tighten when you sleep, which tends to cause the severe pain that people feel as soon as they rise. By stretching the plantar fascia before putting pressure on it, you can help reduce the pain that you experience with your first morning steps. Another great exercise for stretching out the plantar fascia is to roll a tennis ball or rolling pin with the arch of your foot. As this becomes less and less painful you can try doing the exercise standing.

The next crucial thing to do is immediately put on a sturdy pair of shoes and orthotics. This will help to cushion and support the foot arch and help to keep it from more damage. If you utilize the proper exercises for plantar fascitis  and orthotic insoles, you will see a great improvement in your heel pain. It is important that you pay attention to your body and if you are experiencing foot pain, see a doctor as soon as possible. This will ensure that your pain does not turn into a more serious problem.

Adult acquired flat foot

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

Adult acquired flatfoot is also known as posterior tibial tendon dysfunction (or PTTD). It is a troubling condition as it is almost always progressive in its development unless treatment is started early. It tends to happen in adults and usually just starts off as a mild ache in the midfoot and ankle, but get progressively worse. The arch collapse and the ankle rolls inwards. It eventually progresses to being very disabling and in advanced cases, just walking around the house is difficult. It is more common in those who are overweight or have some sort of condition, like rheumatoid arthritis.

The posterior tibial muscle is a powerful muscle in the leg. Its tendon passes on the inside of the ankle and its job is to hold up the arch of the foot and stop the ankle rolling inward. What happens in adult acquired flat foot is that this muscle and tendon complex can no longer do its job. Some degeneration sets into the tendon as its starts to fail. As the force of bodyweight is pushing down, the ankle starts to roll inwards and the arch collapses. This change in alignment becomes progressively more disabling and painful. Walking becomes more difficult as the muscle is not working as it should.

Early on the symptoms are so mild, it often gets dismissed as a normal part of getting older. Unfortunately this is the stage when it is best caught and treatment started. At this stage foot orthotics are used to stop the arch collapsing and the ankle rolling inwards, so the muscle does not have to work so hard and can recover. Physical therapy to improve the muscle strength is also helpful. If it progresses or is not caught that early, more substantial foot supports or even foot and ankle supports are needed. Often high top boots are also need to help stabilise the ankle. If these conservative method do not work and it has progressed substantiall, then surgery is the only option to realign the arch and ankle.

A lot of research is being done on posterior tibial tendon dysfunction, its causes and management. Posterior tibial tendon dysfunction also has a significant impact on people who have it and like any chronic pain problem, it does affect their quality of life.

Purchasing Elliptical Trainers

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

Elliptical trainers are workout apparatus which are built to let you workout without adding OTT stress on your joints, therefore lessening the possibility of strain or injury. Elliptical trainers make it easy to get your heart rate into the right sector for you quickly, and with relatively small effort. They are optimised so that you can burn up to seventy pc more calories than if you were just walking on a level surface.

Now when purchasing an elliptical trainer you need to ensure that it is one of strong construction, that might suit the body size of everyone in your household, or whoever will be using it. I have shown some of the most vital issues below.

You want to look at the stride length on the equipment, because these may change from 7 inches to approx 21 inches. The longer walk lengths have a tendency to be a much more snug experience, so these are to be preferred. Plenty of elliptical trainers are adjustable, but if you select one that suits you, you may not require this accessory.

The intensity of your work-out is determined by the level of resistance. Many of the best elliptical trainers permit you to change the resistance level on the flywheel, and some will permit you change the incline resistance. Flywheel resistance can be modified thru either belt strain, or magnetic resistance. Although magnetic resistance is more costly, it'll be quieter and last a belt. Make efforts to purchase a machine that lets you adjust this resistance from your console display.

Another significant feature is a heart rate monitor. Many high-end elliptical trainers have a heartbeat sensor on the handles meaning that your heart rate is monitored while you do your exercise. This helps you to work-out at your perfect heart rate.

Probably the most important feature of an elliptical trainer is the display console, as this may provide all sorts of useful feedback and other options. It's well worth paying a small amount additional to get a good console so that you can check how your work-out is progressing, and remain incentivized to keep going. The monitor also gives you control over built in workouts.

Built-in workouts are one of the most helpful features of an elliptical trainer. They permit you to choose workout programs that are customized for your own fitness rate, or to your targetted exercise length or level. This is an example of the features of elliptical trainers that helps you build up a sensible exercise routine, and will mean you will want to keep coming back for more each day.

Finally, do you have plenty of space to use your elliptical trainer. You would like to buy the best elliptical trainer model however do make some space in which to position it.

Russian-style massage's benefits

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

Russian massage is based on techniques that have been used extensively in Russia for over 100 years, and is based on the philosophy that through massage the body can learn to heal, relax and repair itself. Russian massage uses many unusual techniques, but they do use similar terms to Swedish massage.

So for instance they use the terms friction and tapotement, however the techniques they use are very different to those used in other styles of massage. The Russian massage style of tapotement is less intrusive than the Swedish style, covers a larger surface area and is used to increase blood flow to the muscles. Russian massage also uses a few friction techniques, both that are very deep tissue styles of massage.

The “sawing” technique is an intense style of massage that adds much heat to the muscles and is helpful for chronic muscular problems. The cresting technique is also unique to this style of massage and again is a friction technique. Often used in sports massage, this technique again provides heat to the muscles. Raking is also a common technique and is used along the erector spinae muscles and also the intercostals muscles, allowing for deep tissue manipulation of these muscles. However there are also some more gentle, relaxation styles of massage in the Russian style including the rocking of the body.

During this style of massage, the client’s body is moved and rocked a lot, with the therapist using the client’s body to massage. So when massaging the muscles in the calf, the therapist will pick up the leg and rock it back and forth, using the weight of the muscle to massage the attachment points. This allows for a less intrusive style of massage and allows the massage therapist to work with the body, not against it.

All of the techniques including friction and cresting use the weight of the therapists body to provide the massage, rather than stressing the therapists thumbs and hands.

Russian massage is also known as being very easy on the therapist’s body and therefore helps extend the therapists working life. It does not use thumbs at all and a big part of the massage is protection of the therapist’s body.

Russian therapists believe that sometimes giving 50% energy to a client will have a better effect than giving 100%. This style of massage has developed in Russia over the last century and is used extensively in hospitals, with patients often being prescribed a series of massages during their stay.

Similarly, health professionals in Russia use massage therapy in their treatment of patients. Russian massage has only been used in the West rarely and is not commonly available.

Ripple Massage’s website has much information on massage Mornington Peninsula and is the one mobile massage therapy business in Australia that offers Russian massage to its clients. Operating in Queensland, NSW and Victoria, clients are able to access this unique and very rare style of massage that not only allows for deep relaxation but is deeply therapeutic. For more details visit the website.
